  • Starting salary: $101,784 per year (plus 17% superannuation)

About the role

The Lecturer: Design and Technology Education is responsible for the development, delivery and coordination of courses within the undergraduate and postgraduate programs of the academic unit and to contribute to the research program of the academic unit. The position will contribute independently and as a member of a team to support the teaching and research outcomes of the academic unit and to carry out activities aimed at maintaining and developing their academic, research and /or professional with a particular emphasis on the teaching of design and technology.

Within UniSA Education Futures, UniSA College is responsible for the university’s pre-degree and pathway programs for Australian students, and implements the university’s engagement strategy, aimed at increasing the number of students from lower socio-economic backgrounds enrolled in university.

Core Responsibilities

  • Develop, coordinate, and deliver courses on campus, overseas, online, or through other appropriate methods
  • Contribute to research and scholarly activity, independently and/or as a member of a team, resulting in quality publications in peer-reviewed academic and professional journals and the presentation of conference and seminar papers
  • Create, foster, and strengthen national and international ties with relevant educational, business, academic, and community organizations that contribute to the advancement of university and academic unit goals
  • Coordinate, supervise and mentor an academic team to ensure effective course delivery

Essential skills and experience

  • Doctoral degree aligned with design and technology education
  • Contemporary teaching, learning and assessment skills with excellent ability and experience to undertake high quality teaching activities that reflect contemporary pedagogical, student and professional needs and standards
  • Demonstrated high-quality teaching outcomes with evidence of a strong commitment to continuous improvement of teaching practices and learning outcomes, on campus and online
  • Demonstrated commitment to establishing a research program that demonstrates a growing number of publications and experience in preparing research grant applications
  • Experience working with schools, teachers and professional bodies as research partners and in delivering professional development
