Picosun is part of a larger quantum technology development project
HELSINKI, January 18, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Picosun is participating as an industry partner in QuTI, a recently launched large research project aimed at developing new components, manufacturing and testing solutions needed for quantum technology. Quantum technology has attracted interest from a wide range of large-scale industries. The remarkable performance improvements it offers enable powerful computing and advantages in communications, healthcare, sensors, imaging and measurement applications, for example.
The QuTI project is coordinated by the VTT Technical Research Center of Finlandand it has a total budget of about 10 million euros. Other industry partners in the consortium include Bluefors, Afore, IQM, Rockley Photonics, CSC, Quantastica, Saab and Vexlum. Research partners are VTT, Aalto University and the University of Tampere.
“Quantum technology is a rapidly evolving multidisciplinary field. The QuTI consortium offers an ideal starting point to strengthen the international competitiveness of Finnish technology and industry in this growing field,” says the QuTI project coordinator, research professor. Mika Prunnila of mountain biking.
“Quantum technology has already made the leap from research labs to commercial applications. We are looking forward to supporting this development trend even further and helping to create a globally competitive industrial ecosystem in Finland around this technology,” says Dr. Jani Kiviojatechnical director of the Picosun group.
“Atomic Layer Deposition, or ALD, is the advanced thin-film coating method for ultra-thin, highly uniform, and conformal material layers that enables today’s digital solutions. It will also play a crucial role in future innovations and in quantum computing, communication and sensing devices that will be developed in the QuTI project,” continues Jussi RauteeCEO of Picosun Group.
